Small Group Training

Witness how training in an established group of similarly skilled players, over a number of weeks, can create dramatic improvement in a young player.  The over-arching goal of intensive SGT is to develop the "Complete Player".  Sessions are broken up by age group and meet once a week for 6 consecutive weeks.

We have patterened specific skills and strategic development across all sessions to establish a consistency that enables the player to see tangible improvement.  We follow the proven methods of instruction as outlined by arguably the greatest coach ever, John Wooden.

In addition, players are given sound mental guidelines so they understand better how to get the most out of themselves and what it takes to succeed.  Positive Coaching Alliance growth mindset approach acronym called the ELM Tree (Effort, Learning, Mistakes OK) is taught and defines the attitude in the culture of our training.  Players will exit our program feeling better at basketball, but more importantly have confidence in their ability to learn and improve going forward.

We also have an Emphasis Skill that differs each week including:

Week 1 - Bald Eagle "Shooters Flow" System

Week 2 - Scoring from the Triple Threat

Week 3 - Passing Under Pressure

Week 4 - Receiving the Ball Under Pressure

Week 5 - Scoring Off The Dribble

Week 6 - Scoring In The Post

Each of those skills are practiced independently, but some of the "skills within the skill" (like the Jab Step) is overlapping so they get to work on it within multiple Emphasis Skill sessions. Shot correction is offered to players every session during the shooting drills.

We typcially do very little open "scrimmaging" in SGT, until the last week or two when we may give them that as a reward for all their hard work.  Live drills take place every session and are the final element that puts our training into game-like application.  We also include some fitness and movement training components to improve balance, quickness, hand-eye coordination, core strength and footspeed.

Our over-arching goal is to help players improve in a fun and encouraging environment.  Different ages and skill levels bring varying maturity and goals, and we are careful to make each session fun yet productive.  We haven't met our goal as a company if each player doesn't walk away with a deeper passion and love for the game of basketball, along with a determination to improve on their own while feeling confident that they can succeed.

                                   Private Training

Players will leave their Training sessions motivated and inspired to work hard at becoming the best they can be....and believing they can do it!

  • Training sessions start with a complete assessment of each athletes current skill set.  Skill development work will progress in the areas of footwork, balance, dribbling, passing, rebounding, and defense.
  • Special attention and time will be given to proper shooting form starting with balance/footwork all the way through obtaining an excellent body "flow" and release point.
  • Players will be taught how to be an offensive weapon by learning and practicing their Triple Threat, Jab Step and general attack moves/attitude from the perimeter and post positions.
  • The goal of Private Training sessions are to build a "Complete Player" who has the confidence to score from anywhere on the court, yet rebound and play solid defense.
